As the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is having a greater impact in the United States, our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the virus. Because this is a rapidly-evolving situation, we feel it is important to reach out to you about the steps we are taking across our hotel to help keep you, our team members and our communities safe and healthy.  As part of our commitment to your health and well-being, we are carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation with regular updates and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Health, as well as additional government agencies and health care providers. We are also working closely with our partners throughout the industry and area.

Across our property we work hard to maintain a healthy and safe environment for our team members and guests; we have taken a number of measures in recent weeks.  Our team works diligently to, as we always have, clean and sanitize our building.  Given the current concerns related to COVID-19, we are increasing our cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection frequency above our already high standards.

We have added hand sanitizing stations in the lobby and banquet area, but remind all guests and team members to wash your hands using the proper procedures and CDC guidelines.

On February 27th we completed our annual team training and certification in Fire, Life and Health Safety.  Topics included a review of our fire alarm procedures; evacuation plan; and an extended section of health and safety which included topics on COVID – 19.  (Understanding How COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is spread, understanding how we can prevent it, Reviewed CDC’s Guidelines for washing hands, reviewed CDC’s recommended glove usage and safe removal, sanitary and hygiene awareness)

At this time, it is our understanding that different declarations exist on gatherings of 500-1000 people are focused on public events rather than private events. It is our intention to continue to deliver our meetings and events with the exceptional food and service we have always offered.  As of today we are modifying our offerings of our daily breakfast and lunch buffets as well as our Sunday brunch buffet until further notice.   We are and will remain open and ready to serve you when you are ready!

Our promise is to remain calm, follow our training, wash our hands, stay home if you are sick, and follow all hygiene policies to ensure The Desmond will continue to be a safe and healthy place to work, eat, sleep and meet.  Hope you find this helpful, I’m proud of our team and how seriously they take this part of their careers.  Please feel free to call if anything other specific comes to mind.
